Round 4 of the Renault Clio Cup, and the teams traveled to North
Yorkshire to race on the circuit at Croft. Once again the weather
was kind and we enjoyed bright, dry conditions for the whole weekend.
Qualifying saw Dan running well, and if he had not been baulked
by a slower car he would have qualified third quickest, without
a doubt the team is now beginning to work well. The qualification
race started with Dan in 9th place, as usual the first excitement
happened at the first corner, in avoiding being involved Dan lost
a couple of places, but easily made these up to finish 8th. This
gave 15thplace on the grid for the main race on Sunday, not the
best staring position.
Round 4 started at 5:30 in the evening and in common with every
race to date this season it was an absolute cracker, with so many
incidents that the commentators could not keep up with everything.
Dan made a good start and at the first turn made up 4 places,
all went well until turn two, where he was pushed wide and lost
some of the ground he had won. The race progressed fast and furious
and at one point he picked up 5 places in one move! In the race
Dan set a fastest lap that was 7th quickest, proving that we are
now well ‘on the pace’, in fact the top 10 cars were
all within 5ths of a second in lap times.
We leave Croft with a very satisfying four feature races started
and four races completed, and points scored in every race, in
this particular race starting 15th and finishing 9th was a very
good performance. Now we look forward to Oulton Park at the end
of the month.
